Kiku is owned by the Peter Zhang and family including a brother and a cousin who live in New York. It opened after an extensive remodeling, including new kitchen equipment, seating, interior furnishings, and bar area.. Zhang has been in the restaurant business for several years, and once operated Sakkio Japan in the food court of The Shops of Grand Avenue. He also once operated Kyoto, a Japanese restaurant at 7453 W. Layton Ave., Greenfield. More recently, Zhang opened Kou You, a Japanese restaurant at 12900 W. Blue Mound Road, Elm Grove, before selling that business in 2008. The menu has dozens of sushi and other seafood items, along with foods prepared in both teriyaki and tempura style. A specialty drink menu is also featured.
